The Gilchrist County Chamber of Commerce will once again host Christmas on Main Street in downtown Trenton on Thursday, Dec. 4, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
This year’s theme is Charlie Brown and organizers are planning a costume contest for elementary age children to find the best Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Woodstock, Linus or Lucy in Gilchrist County.
Christmas on Main Street will offer local residents a free night of family fun. As in years past, the event will feature vendors, bike giveaways, children’s activities, bounce houses, food and lots of fun.
Opening ceremonies will kick the event off at 5:30 p.m. at the depot. A costume parade will be held at that time. Citizens can also register for the bike giveaways beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the depot.
Throughout Christmas on Main Street live entertainment will be performing at the depot. Acts include Leigh Hartzog, Brent Owens, Kevin Randolph and Wendy, Debbie’s Dance, the AME Baptist Church Choir and new this year a Mr. Handyman Contest, sponsored by Trenton Ace Hardware.
Also new in 2014, there will be gingerbread house contest going on at Best Drugs. Winners will be announced at 8 p.m.
Duke Energy will be providing hot dogs, while the Trenton Food Pantry will be serving chili and the Gilchrist County Journal will be offering cookies and punch.
Children will have the opportunity to meet and talk with Santa Claus at Capital City Bank again this year, so have those cameras ready, and make plans to attend Christmas on Main Street!
