Anderson, Hellams win municipal elections

Anderson received 52 votes to Sanders 45 votes. She will be sworn in as a Town Council member representing Group 5 in January.

“I want to thank the voters of Bell for electing me to Seat 5 on the Bell Town Council,” Anderson said after her victory. “I would also like to thank my opponent Mr. Hugh Sanders for all of his years of service to our community.”

Anderson said she is looking past the election now and anticipating serving the residents of Bell.

Bell Mayor Thomas “Tommy” Brown was re-elected during the Tuesday, Dec. 2 election. Brown garnered 60 votes to Edmund W. Morgan III’s 37 votes.

Overall, 98 of the Town of Bell’s 308 registered voters cast a ballot, which is roughly 32 percent.

In the City of Trenton, just 13 percent of the 1101 registerd voters cast a ballot in the December 2 election. Of those voters, 86 voted for incumbent Marcia Hellams and 55 supported former city commissioner Arlene Wilks for the Group 3 seat on the Trenton City Commission.
