Just in time for the holidays, the Gilchrist County Journal website has undergone a makeover to better serve our readers.
Visit www.gilchristcountyjournal.net to see all that is now offered on the newspaper’s website. Unlimited access to the content will be available until January 1, 2015, so we encourage all readers to visit the new website and take the time to register with a user name and password.
Once you access the website, you’ll notice an abundance of articles and pictures. In the past, the Journal staff has only published select articles on the website and often a week behind the print edition. But throughout the month of December, we’ll be posting all the content from the print edition of the newspaper online to give readers a chance to experience the Gilchrist County Journal in full on the Internet. Subscribers to our print edition typically receive their newspapers in the mail on Thursday. The newspaper will now be available in full on our website also on Thursdays.
“We have wanted to launch a full website for some time and are excited to now have the opportunity to give our readers the option of a full digital subscription, in addition to a print copy,” explained Carrie A. Mizell, editor of the Gilchrist County Journal. “It’s exciting to think that our readers who live close by, but also out of state will not have to wait weeks and weeks to get their newspaper in the mail. They will now have the option of a digital version through our new website.”
The free preview won’t last for long, however. Beginning January 1, the free trial will end and the full website will only be accessible to subscribers. There will still be some content available to nonsubscribers, including our new photo galleries, where readers can view high-resolution digital images that we gather in the community, including those not published in the print edition.
Everything you are accustomed to reading in your Gilchrist County Journal will now be available online, including coverage of government meetings, feature stories, socials, sports, school news, calendar of community events, opinion columns, classifieds, and letters to the editor.
After January 1, non-subscribers will only have access to the calendar of community events, obituaries, photo galleries and videos posted to the website.
Submittal forms will also now be available on the website. Readers can easily submit photos with their wedding, anniversary, and birth announcements via submittal forms that are available on the website. Photos can accompany news tips, articles or other text submittals from readers through the website.
After January 1, readers can use PayPal to purchase a reoccurring monthly subscription for $5 per month, or a reoccurring annual subscription for $25 per year. The subscriptions include access to the E-editions of the newspaper, which are PDF versions of the print edition that can be viewed online in real time. Reoccurring subscription payments may be terminated at any time.
Please visit www.gilchristcountyjournal.net and look around to get acquainted with all the new features. We would love to hear feedback. Please feel free to send suggestions or concerns about the new website to Carrie Mizell at email@example.com or call 463-7135.
