The Trenton Tigers have run their way back to a 3-3 record with three straight wins.
The Tigers, after dropping their opening three games, were joined by athletes from the Region 3 runner-up football team to earn wins over Bronson, Cornerstone Academy, and Cedar Key.
“We had a great effort Tuesday night in Bronson defeating the Eagles 62-45,” explained Jim Akins, head basketball coach of the Trenton Tigers.
The Tigers came out strong, out-scoring the Eagles 18-6 in the first period. The Tigers took a 33-24 lead at halftime.
In the second half the Trenton out-gunned the Eagles 29-21 to take a big District 6 1A on the road.
The Tigers defeated Cornerstone Academy 78-25 to avenge an earlier loss to the Gainesville school.
The Tigers traveled to Cedar Key to face the Sharks, a District 6 1A opponent. The Tigers defeated the host Sharks 66-40 to go 2-0 in District play.
The Tigers at this point in their schedule are led on offense by Aaron Brown shooting 56 points in 3 games with a 58 percent made from the field. Brown is 13 of 24 from beyond the arch as the junior is hitting 54 percent of his 3 point shots.
Dogan McKoy has shot 52 points in 5 games while shooting 42 percent from the field. The junior forward leads the Tigers with 31 rebounds, 10 assists,4 steals, and 3 blocks.
Hamp Cheevers has shot 34 points in 3 games with a 54 percent completion from the field. The outstanding junior has led the Tigers with 23 assists, 10 steals, and 13 rebounds.
The Tigers hosted District 6 1A leading Hawthorne on Tuesday and will have Hilliard, another District 6 foe in Trenton on Friday night. The JV boys will tip-off at 4 p.m. , followed by the Varsity girls at 5:30 and the Varsity boys at 7 p.m..
