Free Movie Night at Fort Fanning

Fanning Springs Mayor Trip Lancaster will host the first of what he hopes will be a quarterly free, family friendly movie night at Fort Fanning on May 8.

Families are invited to bring a blanket or lawn chairs and enjoy “Big Hero 6” outdoors. The movie will begin at sunset, or around 8 p.m. Before the movie, there will be free finger painting for children beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Food and drinks can be brought into the park, but no glass bottles are allowed. Fanning Springs Fire Rescue will have low cost concessions available. All proceeds from the concessions will benefit the volunteer fire department. There will be no smoking or alcohol at this event.

Officers from the Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office, the Levy County Sheriff’s Office and Fanning Springs Fire Rescue will be on-hand, so kids will have the opportunity to meet and talk with police officers and firefighters.

Fort Fanning is located on the banks of the Suwannee River, next to the bridge at the corner of US 19 and Kentucky Avenue.
