PUBLIC MEETING

The City of Fanning Springs will hold a public meeting on Monday, August 8, 2016 at 4:30 p.m. or shortly thereafter.  The sole purpose of this meeting will be to discuss the City applying for a grant under the Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program (FRDAP) during the Opportunities for Individuals with Unique Abilities Special Funding Cycle.  The applications are due August 17, 2016.  The grant application will include Phase II improvements to the “Fort Fanning Historical Park”.

NOTICE OF AMENDMENTS TO THE GILCHRIST COUNTY LAND DEVELOPMENT CODE

The Gilchrist County Board of County Commissioners will hold a public hearing on August 15, 2016 at 4:15 p.m., or as soon as possible thereafter, in the Board of County Commissioners Meeting Room at 210 South Main Street, Trenton, Florida to adopt the following Ordinance:

ORDINANCE 2016-04

An ordinance of the Board of County Commissioners of Gilchrist County, Florida; amending the Gilchrist County land development code to delete section 5.04.05 (A); providing for severability; and providing an effective date.

The proposed amendments to the Land Development Code may be inspected by the public at the Gilchrist County Community Development Department, 209 SE 1st Street, Trenton, FL, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Members of the public are invited to attend the public hearing and give input.  For more information, please contact the Community Development Department at (352) 463-3173.

NOTICE

The Gilchrist County Board of County Commissioners will hold a public hearing on September  8  , 2016, at   4:15 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter can be heard, at the Gilchrist County Commission Meeting Building located at 210 South Main Street, Trenton, Florida, concerning adopting a non-ad valorem special assessment roll pursuant to the following resolution, the short title of which is described as follows:

Resolution No: 2016-23

A Resolution of the Board of County Commissioners of Gilchrist County, Florida; adopting a non-ad valorem assessment roll for road improvements for the special assessment district known as SW 82nd Lane Special Assessment District; denoting the parcels and amount of assessment for each parcel; and establishing an effective date.

For your information, the purpose of the assessment is to pay for the road improvements made to SW 82nd Lane.  The total amount to be levied against each parcel is $6,900.00, which may be amortized and payable over a 20 year period at an annual assessment rate of $559.14 (including both principal and interest), commencing on October 1, 2016. The unit of measurement to be applied against each parcel is on a per parcel basis rather than its size or road frontage. There are 13 parcels within the SW 82nd Lane Special Assessment District and the total principal amount of revenue to be collected by the County is $89,700.00.

Failure to pay the assessment will cause a tax certificate to be issued against the property which may result in a loss of title.

All affected property owners have a right to appear at the hearing and to file written objections with the Board of County Commissioners within 20 days of this notice.  All members of the public are invited to attend and will be given an opportunity to provide comments to the County Commission.  The public hearing may be continued to one or more future dates.  Any interested party shall be advised that the date, time, and place of any continuation of the public hearing shall be announced during the public hearing and that no further notice concerning the matter will be published.  All persons are also advised that if they decide to appeal any decision made at the above referenced public hearing, they will need a record of the proceedings, and that for such purpose, they may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.
