Motorcycle crash kills Gilchrist County Paramedic

An early morning motorcycle accident took the life of a Cross City man that was employed by Gilchrist County Fire Rescue on Friday, June 16, as he was leaving Gainesville at 12:50 a.m., reports a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

Jordon Ward, 25, was driving a 2005 Suzuki GSXR west on SR 26 near NW 154th Street when he lost control of the bike and crashed. The media release did not indicate if the driver was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

On Monday morning Gilchrist County Fire Rescue joined with Dixie County Emergency Medical Services when a motorcade of emergency vehicles passed through Gilchrist County when they returned the Dixie County man’s body to his hometown. A memorial service for Jordon Ward was held on Wednesday, June 21 at the First Baptist Church of Cross City with Rev. Jarrett Thomas officiating in the services.
