On Friday the Bell Girls Basketball Team traveled down to the University of South Florida for their 1st summer basketball Camp with Coach Mark Kennie. The camp had our girls playing teams from all over the area, and matched them up against schools ranging from 5A-7A schools. This experience was designed to help this young group of women bond together as a team and putting them in tough situations to help them learn the game of basketball and work together as a team. They left Bell at 9:00 a.m. on Friday and spent the next 3 days playing 6 basketball games during their stay at the USF camp.
Besides the grueling schedule, and the competition, they did take time to walk the harbor along the Tampa River Walk and enjoyed getting to know not only each other, but also their Head Coach Mark Kennie. Mark wanted this camp to give the young ladies the chance to experience the Division 1 college women’s basketball atmosphere. He arranged for time to tour the women’s facility, areas like screening room, locker room, and weight rooms. We even got to see a few minutes of the USF Bulls Women’s team play in the dome during a brief break between games. Both Mark Kennie and all of these young ladies are looking forward to this year’s 2017-2018 Girls Varsity Basketball season.
