Mrs. Wilma Jean Forehand

Wilma Jean Forehand, 81, of Chiefland passed away September 29, 2017.

Mrs. Forehand was born to Clifford and Cletis Johnson on April 15, 1936 in Richmond, Virginia.  She enjoyed hunting, fishing and reading.

Mrs. Forehand is survived by her two sons Charles E. Forehand, Jr. of Alliance, Ohio, and James K. (Cristina) Forehand of Tallahassee; granddaughter Marina Forehand; brother, Mack Geiger of Chiefland and sisters, Violet Lester of Chiefland and Frances Colson of Trenton.

No services have been planned at this time.

Mrs. Betty L. Jenkins

Betty L. Jenkins of Trenton, passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Haven Hospice of the Tri-Counties in Chiefland. She was 80 years old. She was born in Trenton on March 11, 1937 to Martin and Lois Parrish Jones and was a lifelong resident. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.

Mrs. Jenkins is preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Elmer L. Jenkins. She is survived by her daughter, Janet (Scot) Lindsey; her son, Alan Jenkins; her sister, Mildred Culpepper and her brother, Elmer (Kay) Jones, all of Trenton. She is also survived by four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Jenkins were held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Shady Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Andy Cook officiating.

Master Alex Jerrells

Alex Jerrells, one month old, of Old Town passed away September 24, 2017.

Alex was born in Gainesville on August 22, 2017.

Alex is survived by his parents Lewis and Joni Jerrells;  grandmother Dessie Lockler; his brothers Billy Jerrells and Justin Jerrells, his sisters Emmie Jerrells and Jessica Dickens, several aunts and uncles, and other extended family members.

Funeral services for Alex were held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 28, 2017 at the City on the Hill Church in Cross City, with Bro. John Sherrill officiating. Interment followed in Maypop Cemetery in Lafayette County. The family received  friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Vonice Marie Land

Mrs. Vonice Marie Land, 74, of Old Town, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2017.

She was born on July 31, 1943 and was a lifelong resident of Dixie County.  Vonice was a homemaker, mother, grandmother and was her husband’s “right hand” on the ranch and in the Palm Tree business until his death in 2016.  She was a member of Suwannee River Baptist Church.

She is survived by sons, Al (Connie) Land of Old Town and George (Liza) Land of Cross City; daughter Chana (Jeff) Watson of Old Town; brothers, Jessie Mullis of Mayo and Wayne Mullis of Live Oak,; sisters, Minnie Kate Hatch of Mayo, Allie Lou Corbin of Old Town, Sheila Kapraun of Orlando and Angela Quiles of Orlando; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Alton Land, brother James Mullis and sister Betty Hartzog.

Funeral services were held at Rick Gooding Funeral Home, Cross City Chapel on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Bobby Lindsey Officiating.  Interment followed at Cross City Cemetery. A visitation was held at the funeral home Monday evening, October 2, 2017 between the hours of 6 and 8:00 p.m..

Mrs. Gayle P. Lyle

Gayle Lyle was born in Umatilla on November 14, 1934, to Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Wesley Pevehouse. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior on September 28, 1951. Gayle graduated from Orlando High School in 1952. On November 4, 1950, she met her future husband at the Coliseum Skating Rink in Orlando.  Ernie Lyle graduated from the same school in 1952.  After graduation, Gayle worked as a secretary, then enrolled at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois.

On June 27, 1954, she married Ernest Lyle, III.  They had five children together, four boys and one daughter.  Ernest L. (Becky) Lyle, IV of Orlando, Roy Neal (Dayna) Lyle of Springhill; Samuel Lawrence (Valda) Lyle  of Trenton; Andrew Timothy Lyle of Chiefland and April Sharon Lyle of Port St. Lucie.  There are 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Monday, October 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Rick Gooding Funeral Home Chiefland Chapel with Rev. Gordon Keller officiating.  A visitation was held an hour prior to the service.  Interment followed at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Orlando.

Mrs. Nancy Carol Marsh

Nancy Carol Marsh, 74, of Chiefland passed away September 29, 2017.

Mrs. Marsh was born to Lester and Laura Watson on March 22, 1943 in Alachua County, but had lived in Trenton for over 35 years. She was a member of Fowlers Bluff Baptist Church. Her hobbies included cooking and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Marsh is survived by her sons, Charles (Patty) Lee  of Trenton, Todd (Patsy) Lee  of Keystone Heights, and David  (Christi) Lee of Havana, her brothers Larry (Joey) Watson  of Trenton and Billy (Elaine) Watson of High Springs; seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her brother Lester Cecil Watson.

Funeral services for Mrs. Marsh were held graveside at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 4, 2017 in Trenton Cemetery, with Rev. Eddie Hatch officiating. The family received friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to  8:00 p.m.

Mrs. Heidi Delane Cannon McDowell

Mrs. Heidi Delane Cannon McDowell passed away on  September 20, 2017 at NFRMC in Gainesville.

She was born on October 3, 1979 to Delano and Gloria Cannon. She graduated from Bell High School in 1998 and Taylor College as an LPN.

Heidi was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, aunt, sister and was a Christian.

She is survived by her husband Jack McDowell and four children, Lillian, Roselyn, Jacalyne and Jack, Jr. of Bell; her parents Delano and Gloria Cannon of Bell; her sisters Ginny (David) Allen of Bell and Greta (Stephen) Cutts of Bell.

Memorial Services for Mrs. Heidi McDowell will be held on October 7, 2017 at Christian Fellowship Community Church on Hwy. 129 in Bell.
