Farm Credit of Florida’s Trenton Branch Donates to Bell and Trenton FFA Chapters

Farm Credit of Florida, a locally owned agricultural lending cooperative, recently donated $700 to each FFA chapter in Dixie, Gilchrist and Levy County.
FFA, formerly known as the Future Farmers of America, is a dynamic youth leadership organization focused on preparing the next generation of leaders in agriculture. FFA is an integral part of agricultural education by helping make classroom instruction come to life through realistic, hands-on applications. FFA members embrace concepts taught in agricultural classrooms nationwide, build valuable skills through hands-on experiential learning and each year demonstrate their proficiencies in competitions that showcase real-world agricultural skills.
The FFA chapters that received a check for $700 include Dixie County, Bell, Trenton, Cheifland, Cedar Key, Bronson, and Williston High Schools, respectively.
“Farm Credit of Florida’s generous donation to local FFA chapters will allow chapters to fund projects and send students to leadership events,” Ethan Church, District 3 President, said. “I know at my chapter, Bronson FFA, we plan to use the money to upgrade our livestock facilities. On behalf of all of the local FFA chapters, thank you to Farm Credit of Florida for supporting the FFA.”
Today’s FFA has evolved in response to expanded opportunities available in agriculture and its needs to hire skilled and competent employees for more than 300 careers. The organization helps students prepare for careers in business, marketing, science, communications, education, horticulture, production, natural resources, forestry and many other diverse fields. The agricultural education program provides a well-rounded, practical approach to learning through three components: Classroom education, hands-on supervised agricultural career experiences, and FFA, which provides leadership opportunities and tests students’ agricultural skills.
“Farm Credit supports agriculture and FFA plays a big part in the future of agriculture,” Jeffery Spencer, Vice President - Lending, said. “We are proud to provide this support at the local level and appreciate all that FFA does for the youth in this area.”
Farm Credit of Florida is a member-owned agricultural lending cooperative and a member of the nationwide Farm Credit System. Farm Credit of Florida provides loans, leases and crop insurance to over 2,610 farmers, ranchers, growers and rural homeowners across the state with 11 offices serving Florida.
