Trenton defeated by GHS, 7-5

The Trenton Tiger baseball team hosted Gainesville High School on Thursday afternoon and were defeated 7-5. The Hurricanes took the lead on a single run in the first inning. The Tigers took over the lead 3-1 in the bottom of the third inning. The Hurricanes scored 4 runs in the top of the fifth inning to take a 5-3 lead. In the seventh inning Gainesville scored 2 runs to increase their lead 7-3. In the bottom of the inning the Tigers scored 2 runs to cut the lead to 7-5.
The Tigers’ Carson Jones pitched 4 innings striking out 7 while allowing 1 hit and 1 run. Trey Sanchez and Max Wawers each pitched an inning for Trenton. Jacob Guthrie came in and pitched the 7th inning striking out 2 and allowing 1 hit. The Tigers’ Chase Malloy recorded 2 hits, scored 2 runs and had 2 RBIs at the plate. Trey Sanchez and Wyatt Langford each added 1 RBI for the Tigers.
The Tigers traveled to face Chiefland on Tuesday and will travel to Bronson on Friday to play these District 7 teams. These games first pitch at 7 p.m.
