Community Supports Dale Lindsey Benefit

The Gilchrist community and surrounding areas came out to take part in the benefit and show their support of Dale Lindsey on Friday, March 23. Local longtime contractor Dale Lindsey has been battling cancer for nearly two years. A group of friends formed a committee to organize a benefit for his family. The event was held at the Gilchrist County Woman’s Club building.
Lindsey spent the day visiting with longtime friends from throughout the area. It was reported that he was overwhelmed by the tremendous turnout for the event and the generosity of this community.
An organizer of the event said they served over 900 dinners. They had hoped to receive around 40 cakes for an auction, but in the end they had well over that amount donated. One cake sold for over $400 and a gun that was donated for the silent auction went for $500.
The benefit committee reported that this event was everything they had hoped for and more. One member stated, “The turnout from the community and surrounding area was tremendous, it makes us proud to be part of a community with such big hearts!”
