Bulldogs get pair of needed wins in doubleheader sweep of Bronson

By Matthew Harrell
Bell Baseball got its first two district wins of the season by sweeping Bronson in a doubleheader Friday.
The week started with the Bulldogs hosting Branford Tuesday night.
Bell trailed by three runs after three innings but gave up two in the fourth and five in the fifth to take a 12-2, mercy-rule loss to the Buccaneers.
The Bulldogs bounced back on Tuesday when they traveled to Bronson for a doubleheader with the Eagles.
Bell scored five runs in each inning of the first game, beating the Eagles 15-0 in three innings.
The Bulldogs got off to a slower start in game two, leading 8-2 going into the fifth inning.
Both teams doubled their run total in fifth and the Bulldogs took a 16-4 win in game two.
After going 2-1 last week, the Bulldogs are 3-9 overall and 2-5 in district play.
This week’s schedule was altered by the weather.
Monday’s game at Interlachen has been canceled and Tuesday’s game at Dixie County has been postponed. The teams are trying to move the game to Friday.
Thursday’s game at Chiefland is still scheduled to be played.
