Bulldogs enter final week of spring practice

By Matthew Harrell
The Bell Bulldogs held an open practice Friday night as they get ready for their last week of spring practice.
Head Coach Joey Whittington said the energy and effort have stuck out to him this spring.
“We’ve had good senior leadership so far,” Whittington said. “Our running backs, some of our skill guys and linebackers, they’ve brought it this year as we try to replace our offensive and defensive lines from last year.”
Those positions stood out during Friday’s open practice.
“I felt like we had really good linebacker play tonight,” he said. “The running backs...ran really hard. There were some bright moments on the offensive line, we need to get more consistent, but I feel like we’re coming along since we’re replacing everybody.”
The Bulldogs will close spring ball by traveling to Branford Friday night at 7:30 p.m. for their spring game.
“We just want to play physical, be tough, be competitive, and see that we can do the fundamentals that we’ve been working on for the past three weeks,” Whittington said.
