The Trenton Lady Tigers hosted the Frostproof Bulldogs last Tuesday night to play for a Final Four berth.
The Tigers were 24-3 overall and the Bulldogs were 17-5.
The Tigers were led on the mound once again by right hander Darian Ingram.
Ingram, just a freshman, had already pitched in the regional finals in 2016 and 2017 against Chiefland. Ingram had a commanding fastball all night and shut the Bulldogs down, allowing just 2 hits, no walks, and struck out 10 hitters.
Ingram’s performance lowered her ERA to 0.69 for the year. The Tigers scored twice in the first inning.
Sophmore Hallie Bryant led off with an infield single and stole second on the next pitch. Junior Taniah Bowers attempted to push Bryant to third with a sacrifice bunt but was eventually walked.
Senior Josie NesSmith then laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt that advanced Bryant and Bowers to second and third with one out. Junior Bryn Thomas laid down a great bunt and Bryant slid home for the first run.
Eighth grader Jenny Lynn Johnson followed Thomas with a long fly ball to centerfield that scored Bowers increasing the score to 2-0.
The Tigers didn’t score again until the bottom of the 4th inning.
Johnson got the inning started with a single and stole second, followed by freshman Adrian Ingram’s single and freshman Lilly Wilkerson’s double.
After two outs, Bryant singled, Bowers walked, NesSmith singled, Thomas singled, Johnson singled again, and Ingram singled again making the score 10-0.
For the game Bryant was 3-3 with 2 runs and 3 stolen bases, Johnson was 2-2 with 2 runs and 2 RBIs, Thomas was 2-3 with 2 RBIs and 2 stolen bases, Adrian Ingram was 2-3 with 2 RBIs and Wilkerson had a double. The Tigers pounded out 11 hits to improve their record to 25-3 and advance to the Final Four.
Trenton will face the Madison County Cowboys on May 21 at Dodgertown in Vero Beach. Madison County is 16-7 overall and beat Hilliard 4-2 to advance to the Final Four. Go Tigers.
