Bulldogs shutout by Atlantic

By Matthew Harrell
The Bulldogs offense continued its struggles Friday night as Bell was shut out by Port Orange Atlantic, 34-0, in a lightning-shortened game.
Bell got the ball first and went three plays and out and punted the ball away.
It took Atlantic just three plays to capitalize as the Sharks found the end zone through the air to take a 7-0 lead.
After another Bell punt, the Sharks found the end zone again, this time on the ground, to take a 14-0 lead.
Atlantic would score on its next two drives before punting on its fifth, the Sharks’ first and only scoreless drive. Atlantic scored on its sixth and final drive to take a 34-0 lead with a few minutes left in the half.
But after the score, play was suspended because of lightning in the area. The game was finally called at 9:10 p.m.
The Bulldogs failed to pick up a first down in the game, and have yet to score this season.
Bell hosts Franklin County on Friday at 7 p.m. The Seahawks enter the game at 1-1 after defeating North Bay Haven Academy, 13-0.
Bell defeated Franklin County, 8-0, last season.
