Deputy Ritchey recognized for his part in helping citizen in need of medical help

GCSO deputies help citizens of the county daily, which was the case recently when Deputy Austin Ritchey got a call.
Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Austin Ritchey responded to a call for service on Friday, August 17, 2018. A family member placed a call to 911 from the Log Landing area of the county. From the call Deputy Ritchey learned that the subject was not breathing. When Deputy Ritchey arrived he found the unresponsive subject on the floor in the home. When he checked and found that the male did not have a pulse, Deputy Ritchey conducted CPR for approximately five to ten minutes until EMS arrived on scene. Gilchrist Emergency Service Paramedic Captain Andy Sapp and Firefighter Kyle Robertson were able to get a heartbeat on the male and transport him to the hospital.
Without Deputy Ritchey’s immediate action and proper CPR it is not likely that the male subject would have been able to be revived.
Deputy Ritchey’s actions is the epitome of what the Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office and Law Enforcement in general stands for.
The Sheriff would like to recognize Deputy Ritchey for his professionalism and quick action, and thank all of our deputies for the hard work that they do day in and day out.
Deputy Ritchey started at GCSO in June of this year.
