The THS Softball team traveled to Gainesville High on Friday to play the #5 ranked 7A Hurricanes. Darian Ingram would take the mound for the Tigers and Alissa Humphries would take the mound for the Hurricanes. These are two of the best prep softball pitchers in North Florida. Both of them had a great night. Ingram struck out 16 Hurricane hitters and gave up only 2 hits with no walks. Humphries also struck out 16 hitters but gave up 4 hits and a walk. Trenton scored its only 2 runs in the top of the first inning. Jenny Lynn Johnson singled and stole second. Keelie Zingaro followed Johnson and lifted a towering fly ball into the night that cleared the fence and gave the Tigers the lead they needed. The Hurricanes scored a run in the 4th inning when the Tigers misplayed two balls in the outfield. Trenton threatened to score again in the 5th inning when Hallie Bryant led off and doubled to left center but was stranded at 3rd by Humphries’ great pitching. The Tigers won 2-1 and improved to 4-0 on the season.
On Monday night the Tigers played Aucilla Christian at home. Ingram took the mound for the Tigers and proved to be way too much for the Warrior hitters. She faced 9 batters in the 3 innings and struck out 8. The Tiger hitters had 9 hits in the short contest with Zoe Maksimov and Keelie Zingaro getting doubles and Hallie Bryant collecting 2 hits with 3 RBI. The Tigers won 15-0 and improved to 5-0 on the season.
The Tigers will face 7A Columbia in Lake City on Friday. Come out and support the Tigers.
