Lafayette defeats Trenton

The Trenton Tigers played host to the Mayo Hornets in a four-quarter battle Friday night under the lights that provided fans with a lot to cheer about.
The Hornets opened this game scoring 14 points in the first period. The Tigers cut the Lafayette lead to 14-7 as they scored just before halftime. In the third period the Tigers tied the score at 14-14 as the two teams battled for the win in the fourth period. The Hornets scored 12 points in the last period to take a 26-14 win.
Trenton’s Tyler Perry completed 2 of 4 passes for 96 yards, threw for 1 touchdown to Kyle Pollock and ran for 1 score and had 2 interceptions in this game. Zach Braswell had 16 carries for 92 yards and Keion Williams had 17 rushes for 88 yards respectfully. The Tigers totaled 368 yards in Friday nights game.
Trenton’s Zach Braswell led the defense with 6 total tackles. Tyler Perry added 4 total tackles from his defensive back spot. Jalen Riess and Keion Williams each contributed 3 tackles for the Tigers’ defense. Kyle Pollock recovered 1 fumble in this game.
The Tigers (2-2) will welcome Crescent City Friday night for Homecoming 2021. The Homecoming festivities will get underway on Thursday evening in the Tigers Growl beginning at 7:30 p.m. The Friday night football game will kickoff at 7:30 and the Homecoming crowning of the King and Queen will be held at halftime.
