Cathryn “Cathy” D. Browning
Mrs. Cathryn D. Browning “Cathy”, 60, of Trenton, passed away on October 8, 2021 at the Tri-County Hospice in Chiefland. Cathryn was born on January 11, 1961 in Ocala to George Lea and Ruth Yearty. She grew up in Ocala then moved to the Tri County area. The last 25 years, she’s lived in Gilchrist County. She worked in banking for several years until an injury left her disabled. Cathryn has always had a passion to feed children and for the last 10 years, she served as one of the directors at the Food Pantry in Trenton. She also served with the Salvation Army, but her greatest loves were her grandbabies. Her parents, and her siblings, Larry and Carolyn Lea precede her in death.
Cathryn is survived by her husband of 23 years, Harry Glenn Browning of Trenton; her son, TJ (Kerri) Bell of Old Town; her daughter, Ruby Browning of Trenton; grandchildren, Liam and Quinton Bell of Old Town; sisters, Diane (Billy) Newhouse of Ocala, Charlene (Mike) Barber of Fernandina Beach and Karen (Jeremy) Penland; a host of extended family also survive.
A Celebration of Cathryn’s Life will be held on Saturday, October 16, at 11:00 am at Priscilla Baptist Church in Bell. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 10:00 am at the church.
In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that you send donations to the Food Pantry of Gilchrist County Inc. at PO Box 736, Trenton FL, 32693.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Watson-Milton Funeral Home, Trenton.

Charlotte Cain Dixon
Mrs. Charlotte Cain Dixon, 71, of Newberry, FL died October 5, 2021, following a long illness, at Shands Hospital at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
Mrs. Dixon was born in Lake City, FL on September 26, 1950 to J. C. and Velma Cain. She lived her early years in Bell, before moving to Gainesville, and graduating from Gainesville High School, class of 1968. Mrs. Dixon spent 18 years working in the banking industry, and started out with Florida National Bank. She then worked 36 years in the title insurance industry and started out with Alachua County Abstract.
She loved baking and cooking.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Dixon of Newberry; a son, Nicholas (Allison) Iuculano of Gainesville; stepdaughters, Amy (Tim) Kilpatrick, of Folkston, GA and Jamie Lynn Osmont of Trenton; three sisters, Doreen Bates of Branford, Doris Martin, of Bell and Laverne Hunt, of Ocala; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter also survive.
Funeral services were held on October 11, 2021 at the Chapel of Williams-Thomas Funeral Home in Newberry with Pastor Andy Cook officiating. Interment followed in Memorial Park West.

Robert Wayne McDaniel
Robert Wayne McDaniel, age 68, of Cross City, FL passed on October 2, 2021 at Advent Healthcare in Ocala, FL.
He moved to Dixie County in the 70’s from Tarpon Springs where he was born to Huston and Jettie McDaniel. Robert spent much of his life as a welder and mechanic, where he was locally known as one of the best. In his free time, he enjoyed the local flea market where the vendors knew him and his dog “Allie” by name.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Huston and Jettie McDaniel; a son, Robert A. McDaniel and one grandson, Ethan McDaniel.
Robert is survived by his wife, Linda McDaniel Langley; his daughter, Goldie (Raymond) Rogers; six grandchildren, Melvin McDanel, Hunter Kingett, Wesley Kingett, Shailyn Kingett, Chloee Kingett and Lizzie McDaniel; great granddaughter, Jillian McDaniel; and his brothers and sisters, Jimmy Patrick, Patricia Patrick Sousa, Susan Uhl, Debbie McDaniel, David McDaniel and Eric McDaniel.
A funeral to honor Mr. McDaniel’s life was held October 12th at Faith Baptist Church in Cross City. Interment followed at the Cross City Cemetery with Brother Dwayne Kight officiating the services.

Dennis Edward Mills
Dennis Edward Mills, 74, of Old Town, FL passed away October 4, 2021.
Mr. Mills was born November 28, 1946 to Sidney and Catherine Mills in Cross City, FL and had been a lifelong Dixie County resident. He had worked with Hudson Pulp and Paper, the G P Chip Mill and as a Ranch Manager. Mr. Mills was a member of the Cross City Pentecostal Holiness Church and was a Church Board Member. He was a member of the Crane Bay Hunting Club.
Mr. Mills is survived by his wife of 17 years, Pauline Mills; his daughters, Kimberly Hewit (Travis), Lanaee Hurtubise (James) and Emily Mills; his brother, Dean Mills (Sherry); his sister, Darlene Hoover (Buddy); five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jessica Standrige and his parents Sidney and Catherine Mills.
Funeral services for Mr. Mills were held October 7, 2021 at the Cross City Pentecostal Holiness Church, with Pastor Raymond Wilcox officiating. Interment followed at the Old McCrabb Cemetery.

Vessie Jones Mills
Vessie Jones Mills, 96, of Cross City, FL passed away October 4, 2021.
Mrs. Mills was born July 5, 1925 to the late Albert and Pearl Brown in Bell, FL, but had spent most of her life in the Cross City area. She had owned Jones Department Store and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cross City. Mrs. Mills loved the Lord, and when she was younger she always tried to be active with her church.
Mrs. Mills is survived by her grandchildren, Davey Jones, Diane Lord (Tim) and DeeDee Miles (Mike); eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; her step-son, Roger Mills (Eva-Marie) and other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Cecil Jones and Luther Mills; her son, David Jones, Sr,; her step-sons, Billy Jones and Gary Jones (Kathy).
Graveside services for Mrs. Mills were held October 8, 2021 at the Cross City Cemetery, with Mark Rains officiating.

Scott Allen Smith
Mr. Scott Allen Smith, 66, of Dawsonville, GA passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville Campus.
Born on March 5, 1955 in Jacksonville, FL, he was the son of the late Cecil Ray and Florence Adelia Bennion Smith. He was a Product Technician Leader at ZEP. Mr. Smith was a member of Free Chapel Worship Center.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his son, Matthew Smith.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Jennifer Bullock Smith of Dawsonville; daughter, Christy Smith of Dawsonville; grandson, Kaden Royal of Dawsonville; granddaughter, Makenzie Royal of Dawsonville; sister, Carol Kearns of Chiefland, FL; brother, Don Smith of Canton; daughter in law, Katy Smith of Lawrenceville and a number of other loving relatives.
Funeral services were held on September 30, 2021 at the Chapel on McEver. Rev. Jentezen Franklin and Rev. Carol Kearns officiated.Interment followed in Memorial Park Cemetery.
