On Tuesday, Oct. 21 the #1 ranked Lady Bulldogs traveled to Bronson for the first round of the district playoffs to face Hilliard. This would be the third time the two teams had met with Bell sweeping the Lady Flashes both times. This game would not be any different. Focused and with the state playoffs in mind, the Lady Dogs went on the attack, giving Hilliard no hope for victory winning 25-12, 25-17, 25-10 for the sweep. Leading players for Bell were Shelbie Hutto with 15 kills; Baylee Rolling with 19 assists, 10 aces, 17 service points; Raychel Thomas with 17 assists, 9 service points and Katarina Kresovic with 15 digs.
October 23, 2014--On Thursday, the Lady Bulldogs were back in Bronson for the district final against the home team Bronson Eagles. Being ranked #1 in the state inspires every team to give their best against you and the Eagles would do just that. The first set started with much energy as both teams had great fan turnout supporting them. The set was close with the lead going back and forth until around the mid way point Bell started pulling away and cruised to a 25-14 win. Bell set the tone defensively at the net behind the middle blocking duo of junior Ashton Mathews and senior Katelyn Blong. In set two, the Lady Dogs again were dominant defensively at the net and with the offense attacking from all angles Bell pulled away from the Eagles for a 25-15 win. With only set three between them and a district title, the Lady Bulldogs would not be denied, staying out in front of the Eagles the entire way to win 25-19 for the 3-0 sweep. Much credit to the Lady Eagles as they played a hard game the entire way. Leading players for the Bulldogs were Shelbie Hutto with 10 kills; Ashton Mathews with 9 kills, 7 blocks; Baylee Rolling with 20 assists, 6 aces, 13 service points; Katarina Kresovic with 23 digs and Raychel Thomas with 10 service points.
With the win, Bell improves to 22-3 overall and 10-0 in the district. The Lady Bulldogs now return to the comfort of home court advantage, hosting Branford on November 4 in state semi-regional play. Please continue to come out and support these hard working ladies. Go Bulldogs!
