Mr. Bobby R. Wells, 58, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 25, 2014 at Haven Hospice Care Center in Chiefland. Bobby was born on March 22, 1956 in Lakeland, to Clarence Wells and Mildred Kelly Wells. Former EMS chief files lawsuit after 2013 arrest

Gilchrist County’s former EMS chief has filed a civil lawsuit in federal court against Sheriff Bobby Schultz and Sergeant Stephen Stalvey. Linda Walker is seeking damages in excess of $75,000 excluding attorney’s fees. Walker claims she was falsely arrested on June 22, 2013 for burglary with intent to commit a trespass. Gilchrist County has the highest graduation rate in the state

Gilchrist County led the state with a 95.4 percent graduation rate for the past school year, well above the statewide rate of 76.1 percent, according to statistics released by the Florida Department of Education on Thursday, Dec. 18. The THS Varsity boys basketball team defeated the Bell Bulldogs in the closing seconds of the game 67-64 Friday night in the Dawg Pound.
