1 person killed in head-on collision north of Bell

BOCC holds first budget crunch meeting

The Gilchrist County Board of County Commissioners took their first look at the 2015-16 general revenue budget in the first workshop meeting held for the 2015-16 fiscal year on Monday afternoon. Jacki Johnson, finance director, presented the proposed budget of $26,406,801.00 in estimated revenue based on 8.5 mills. Jumping sturgeon injures 2 Monday

Two Dixie County residents were injured on Monday when they were struck by a jumping sturgeon in the Suwannee River near Branford. Nicholas and Jamie Bradley were transported to Shands Hospital in Gainesville, where they were treated for their injuries. Full Story »

Fishing tournament held for Riley Hardy

A fishing tournament to benefit Riley Hardy, a local boy fighting leukemia, raised $11,909.40 on Saturday, June 27.
