Watermelon Harvest

Watermelon harvest season is just ramping up in Gilchrist County. Local farmer BJ Wilkerson, of Wilkerson Farms, said harvesting got underway on Saturday and the price this early in the season is fair. Good growing conditions this year should mean quality melons. City officials grant special exception for liquor package store

The Trenton City Commissioners passed a resolution on Tuesday, Apr. 28 granting a special exception to allow for a liquor package store on the corner of State Road 26 and 10th Street. Fanning Springs man arrested for meth lab and child neglect

A 62-year-old Fanning Springs man was arrested after a witness reported the man was cooking meth inside his home. Michael Austin Jones, 62, lives at 8841 NW 174th Street in Fanning Springs. Lady Bulldogs play in state semi-finals

On Friday, May 1st, the Lady Bulldogs hosted the Lafayette Hornets in the Region 3-1A final. The Hornets had dominated Bell this season in two previous games, allowing only 1 run. 3rd diving related death of 2015 reported Sunday

The body of a 68-year-old Pennsylvania man was recovered from an underwater cave system at Ginnie Springs on Sunday. Robert Jurich, of Glen Mills, Pennsylvannia, was last seen alive at 3000 feet within the Devil’s Eye cave system. His diving partner Evelyn Dudas said the two got separated and over an hour later she resurfaced and notified officials. Full Story »
