Relay For Life raises over $67K

The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of the Tri Counties raised $67,426.07 on Friday, May 1. Emotions were high at the Gilchrist County Agriculture Complex as citizens from Gilchrist, Levy and Dixie counties gathered to celebrate success with cancer survivors, remember those who have lost their battles, and to encourage those currently fighting cancer. Lady Bulldogs play in state semi-finals

On Friday, May 1st, the Lady Bulldogs hosted the Lafayette Hornets in the Region 3-1A final. The Hornets had dominated Bell this season in two previous games, allowing only 1 run. 3rd diving related death of 2015 reported Sunday

The body of a 68-year-old Pennsylvania man was recovered from an underwater cave system at Ginnie Springs on Sunday. Robert Jurich, of Glen Mills, Pennsylvannia, was last seen alive at 3000 feet within the Devil’s Eye cave system. His diving partner Evelyn Dudas said the two got separated and over an hour later she resurfaced and notified officials. Full Story »

36 boats fish Rotary Fishing Tournament on Saturday

Trenton Rotary Club conducted their 7th Annual Fishing Tournament, the friendliest tournament on the gulf coast, last Saturday but the Gulf of Mexico was not friendly for the saltwater fishermen. Bell Bulldogs will go to State

The Bell High School Track and Field Team sent 20 Bulldog student-athletes to the Florida District 1A Regional Track Meet in Orlando on Thursday, April 23rd. Eleven track members received 8th place or better in the final competitions of their events and six athletes qualified for the Florida State Track Competition that will be held in Jacksonville on May 1st. ... FWC to hold local workshop on boating safety zones

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has scheduled workshops to address possible changes to the boating safety zones affecting vessel speed during flood conditions in the Santa Fe and lower Suwannee rivers. Torch Run for Special Olympics

  Officers from Lancaster Correctional Institute and the Gilchrist County Sheriff's Office, family members and friends walked and ran along the Greenway Trail on Friday in support of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.
