Help and Hope for a little Cowboy

On Sunday, March 17, Willis Alton Jones, age 5, suffered a severe head trauma when he was kicked in the head by a horse at his home in Monticello, Arkansas. The 2019 Suwannee River Fair has ended with awards returning home to Gilchrist with participants. The fair awards night was held on Tuesday, March 19. Duke Energy announces 3 more solar power plants

Duke Energy Florida (DEF) today announced the locations of its newest universal solar power plants, which will provide cleaner, smarter energy solutions to benefit Florida customers. The Trenton Solar Power Plant will occupy about 580 acres in Gilchrist County. City Commission extends moratorium to not allow simulated gambling businesses

The Trenton City Commission reviewed Resolution 2018-05, involving a temporary stop gap measure the City of Trenton took in 2018 to dispense with the simulated gambling businesses because they were taking over in the municipality and causing an increase in crime and other unnecessary problems. The Trenton Tiger baseball team played two games last week; on Monday the Tigers defeated the Villages and on Tuesday were shutout by Seven Rivers Christian. Newberry’s Farmers Market opens

The farmers market is located near City Hall in downtown Newberry and is open between 4 and 7 p.m. every Tuesday. Natalia Derevianko is shown with a beautiful head of lettuce at the Newberry Farmers Market last week. Derevianko founded her farming business near Archer last July. Nine graduate from first School Guardian Program Program

The nine Gilchrist County School employees who completed the School Guardian program training were honored last Thursday, March 14, at The Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office. Tax Collector Barbara Merritt Resigns

After 42 years working in the Tax Collector’s Office, Gilchrist County’s Tax Collector Barbara J. Merritt is leaving office.
