Fish Fry nets $10,000 for scholarships

A larger than expected crowd attended the 3rd annual Fishing For Scholarships fish fry and helped raise $10,000 for scholarships. The fish fry is sponsored by the Gilchrist County Education Foundation and is held each year at Gilchrist County Ag Complex. Walk-a-thon generates $15,844

It was a cold and windy Saturday morning as local residents gathered on the courthouse lawn for the Gilchrist County Education Foundation’s annual walk-a-thon. Each year the walk-a-thon serves as a fundraiser for scholarships for graduating seniors and teacher mini-grants. This year’s walk-a-thon raised $15,844.34. Full Story »

Bell’s Ashlee Thomas wins District Science Fair

  Every year, Trenton and Bell Elementary have a School Based Science Fair in December encouraging students to complete a project using the Scientific Method. Gilchrist County has the second highest graduation rate in the state

Annually, the Florida Department of Education calculates a graduation rate for each school district in Florida.  According to the Florida Department of Education, the graduation rate measures the percentage of students who graduate with a standard diploma within four years of their first enrollment in ninth grade.
