County officials honor Kenny Bass

Arrest made in Masonic Lodge fire

A 21-year-old Trenton man has been arrested and charged with burglary and arson after he confessed to starting a Monday morning fire that gutted the William T. Carlton Masonic Lodge in Trenton. Residents call for four-way stop at 313/334 intersection

In June 2010 Cheri Lynn Hutto died at the intersection of County Road 313 and County Road 334. Public boat ramp discovered north of Rock Bluff

Rush promoted to Solid Waste supervisor

After some discussion, Gilchrist County Commissioners voted on Monday, May 18 to promote Bobby Rush to Solid Waste Department supervisor effective May 26, 2015. Commissioner Marion Poitevint said she has no problem with Rush being promoted, but questioned Rush receiving a salary increase. Watermelon Harvest

Watermelon harvest season is just ramping up in Gilchrist County. Local farmer BJ Wilkerson, of Wilkerson Farms, said harvesting got underway on Saturday and the price this early in the season is fair. Good growing conditions this year should mean quality melons.
